This year is a very political year for many countries. France has just voted in their new leader, Greece will do shortly and the USA elections beckon.
Hundreds and maybe thousands are spent on elections. We just heard how George Clooney held a party and raised millions – 15 to be exact – for the Obama campaign. That was after Republicans have banked multiple of that.
We have been bamboozled with virals, advertising and speeches. Then the leaders have pulled out of the bag their election gold bullets. Hollande’s was to tax millionaires by 75%. Obama just now announced he is pro gay marriage. Then as soon as they are chosen they ‘readjust their policies’. Funny that.
This is exactly what happened in the campaign for Blair. The New Labour campaign was one of the sparkliest in a long time. Jazzy theme tune and logo. Compared to the fusty old Conservatives and Maggie’s iron fist approach it felt upbeat and contemporary. He then went round the country having conversations with his people. He listened to their problems and promised to help them.
Many Brits look back at his years in power with a deep sense of disappointment. He promised to be the people’s leader but he spent more time on foreign affairs than he did on home ones and quickly earned the label of ‘President Blair’.
The campaigns this year have rehashed the same great statements and promises of previous candidates. “France forte!” or “Mighty France!” from Sarko and then unoriginally “Time for change” from Hollande.
My question is not whether one party is better than the other. It is this – is the political system is simply outdated?
People want the truth more than ever and no more BS. The web now means there is no running away from the facts.
Countries have tried to impose firewalls but bloggers have found ways of using code to communicate what’s really happening.
Most of all politicians need to stop trying to wow and impress us and start trying to understand and help us.
I was struck in the Sarkozy/Hollande debate how elitist and pompous political language has got. Language that is so jargony and technical it makes no sense to most. Eurobonds. Growth. Austerity.
People want to know what these words mean for them individually. They want stuff made simple.
Instead of education talk about children and schools. Instead of economy it should be your money and job.
It would also be completely revolutionary to actually offer people what they really need and what’s good for them.
Wellbeing would be a good beginning.
A system for learning that allows children to flourish, that encourages their skillset. Creative souls are still today either left to wither or put in a different box like Steiner.
Instead of being obsessed with drugs we should take a leaf out of the Chinese medicine book and focus on prevention and promoting a nourishing way of life.
Instead of a culture of workaholics people should be encouraged to work to live and have a rich life outside of the office.
Ask yourselves are you happy with your life and then what is your government doing to help? Isn’t that the role ultimately of a government, to create a better world for the people Buy Windows 7 Product Key, not themselves or their ego?
And the people have the power now thanks to Twitter and Facebook. We should demand more from our politicians. It’s all very easy to give an eloquent speech that some ivory tower advisor wrote. We should put our future presidents to the test Office Stand-Alone Programs, with real live situations and even real time experiences in real companies. Most like Hollande have spent their life in the theory of politics.
Political parties should be made up of people like you. We pride ourselves that X politician went to a top business school or Y is from a certain family. What about their experience of disaster, poverty Cheap windows 7 key, joblessness?
Time is indeed ripe for change. For the people it’s time to say enough is enough and demand a more human and life enforcing way of running countries.
Every country deserves this. Greece has gone to pot as the so called powers that be have spent away the public money. UK did away with factories in the 80s and all the jobs that went with it. USA now force girls who want to have an abortion to have a scan three times before they abort.
All their decisions. All choices beyond our control.
If you feel this way sign up to the new campaign of the people – enough is enough.

For many outside the startup world, the term “disruptive” may have negative connotations. It was not something you wanted on your report card. Certainly for two women — one an Indian-born American and another a Southern girl — being called “disruptive” is not something our grandmothers would have praised… until now. POPVOX co-founder Rachna Choudhry and I are in New York today to be officially named “disruptors” — and we couldn’t be more pleased!
The Tribeca Film Festival Awards for Disruptive Innovation
The Tribeca Film Festival Awards for Disruptive Innovation replica watches, founded by Craig Hatkoff, capture the spirit of Harvard Professor Clay Christensen’s work, as he described in The Innovators Dilemma. This year’s awards recognize innovators from Rick Rubin of Def Jam Records; Jack Dorsey of Twitter; Rachael Chong of Catchafire; Kevin Carroll and Dan Strzempka, who built the prosthetic tail as seen in Dolphin Tale; Dr. Patricia Bath who is literally working to help the blind to see; to Justin Bieber and many more.
What is a “Disruption”?
The gist of Christensen’s theory is that successful organizations that have been around for a while are less likely to innovate because they benefit from the status quo. Their success locks them into their demise, when a stealthier less-refined approach enters the market and offers a “just enough” or better/cheaper/faster alternative that first serves an unserved market and then encroaches on the existing market. “An innovation that is disruptive allows a whole new population of consumers access to a product or service that was historically only accessible to consumers with a lot of money or a lot of skill.” For a deeper explanation, check out why customers “hire a milkshake.”Congress and Traditional Lobbying: The Business of Status Quo
So how did Rachna and I, a former nonprofit lobbyist and former Congressional staffer, start caring about disruption? A few years ago, we noticed that in our world — not the corporate world, but that of advocacy, Congress, and civic engagement — NO ONE was doing the task that was expected of them, and technology wasn’t helping. The evidence wasn’t exactly hidden. Congressional approval numbers were dipping and the “Tragedy of Political Advocacy” (h/t Jake Brewer) was an accelerating phenomenon. We observed several pain points that technology was exacerbating rather than improving:Congress wants to hear from constituents (but technology made it easier to send barrages of messages with no qualification that they were from actual constituents — or even actual people.)
Organizations, advocates, associations, and yes, big lobbyists, want to demonstrate popular support for their positions (but because messages were increasingly hard to process by Congressional offices and there was no independent measure of sentiment, their solution was to send more messages, be more inflammatory replica watches, YELL LOUDER.)
The people want to be heard and participate, but all the noise ginned up by the pros left them cynical and frustrated, and the unresponsive Congress made them feel ignored and disempowered.Disruption through Transparency
We thought: what if you could build a platform where input to Congress — from individuals and pros alike — was verified replica watches, counted, and available to everyone? That would mean that Congress gets what it needs: real input from its constituents in a format that can be processed. The pros get what they need: a real read of what people are saying about issues, and proof that their grassroots efforts are not “Astroturf.” And most importantly, the people get what they need: a transparent way to register their input that doesn’t go away or disappear into the depths of a broken Congressional correspondence system. This creates a public record of public sentiment on the bills that affect our lives — and for the first time a benchmark to measure what Congress hears from constituents with what Congress does. After much thought and wrangling, we decided to name this platform “POPVOX,” from “vox populi,” Voice of the People.Count the Money or Count the People
It is a well-worn cliché to say that Washington runs on money in the form of political donations. While that is not far off, the true currency of Washington is information and public sentiment. Money just serves to disburse an idea, amplify a message, provide the resources to influence (and this election year, there may even be fewer places to spend it.) The starting theory at POPVOX is that there are two ways to influence legislation: (1) move money, or (2) move people. Our goal is to provide a transparent, qualified metric for what the people have to say regarding pending legislation. This gives Congress the tool it needs to listen and people the tools to ensure that Congress in fact does. The most powerful potential “disruption” of our political and advocacy system, however, is not dependent on any company or tool. It only comes with an engaged, involved public that is paying attention. We’ll bring the tools, you bring your voice, and together we can bring about positive, creative disruption.

Ron Paul’s ability to accumulate an outsized number of delegates at state conventions has many observers wondering if the Texas congressman will embarrass Romney at the GOP national convention.
“That is against my plan so I don’t like that even being a suggestion,” said Paul during an interview on CNN.
The congressman, who has been very persistent on the need for dramatic fiscal reform, didn’t offer any specifics on his convention ambitions other than reiterate that he’s passionate about changing the direction of the Republican Party.
Rumors have swirled that Paul plans to muscle his delegate heft into a major Primetime speaking role at the convention. Paul says that’s simply not true.
“Giving a speech for the sake of giving a speech that is edited doesn’t have much appeal to me Shader Tattoo Machine,” said Paul.
“But moving an agenda is very important and to do that we need to maximize the number of delegates that we have.”
Paul and his well-organized network of faithful supporters are using gatherings of conservative voters at state party conventions to peel away delegates that were awarded to Mr. Romney during the primaries and caucuses.
In Nevada, Paul picked up 22 of the state’s 25 delegates despite Romney winning the state’s caucuses Feb. 4.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal chronicled the convention’s sometimes testy confrontations involving Paul backers and a similar story in Maine where the congressman picked up at least 13 delegates Best Tattoo Machine, which would be a majority of those chosen for the national convention.
The congressman will arrive in Tampa not having won a single state election contest. But holding an outsized number of delegates, but far from the number needed to give him a real shot at the nomination on the first ballot.
As ABC News’ Christopher Goode noted, when the delegates are not voting on the nominee, they can do whatever they want at the convention, regardless of whether or not they’re bound to vote for Romney.
Paul can push hard to be included in the platform debates, shaping the party’s official platform on the Federal Reserve, Iraq and Afghanistan, drug policy which are different from Romney.
The Texas congressman still hasn’t said whether he intends to support likely nominee Mitt Romney for president citing concerns over the former governor’s position on the Federal Reserve and commitment to cutting spending.
“I mean, I can beat Obama, too Tattoo Guns For Cheap,” Paul said. “I think that I could beat him, and every Republican that’s run would have a pretty good chance of beating the president.”

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band headlines one stage at the Hangout Music Fest’s Kick-off Party, while electronic dance music act Big Gigantic tops the other. An Error Occurred | An error occurred

GULF SHORES, Alabama — It’s not unusual for a festival to have something of a kickoff party before the main event gets started. Organizers of the 2012 Hangout Music Fest are basically throwing a festival before the festival.
That’s no exaggeration: If you took the lineup of the Hangout fest’s Kick-off Party and tried to pass it off as a free-standing festival in its own right, it would be a pretty easy sell. Nine hours of music on two stages, including several nationally known acts? Yep Tattoo Case Box, that’s a festival.
And an inexpensive one at that, with tickets going for just $15 in advance and $18 day of show, if any remain available. (As of Tuesday morning, all general admission and VIP tickets were sold out, but tickets for the pre-party remained for sale.) Tickets can be ordered through www.hangoutmusicfest.com. For those holding VIP festival tickets, admission is free.
The action runs from 2:30 to 11:30 p.m. Thursday, with the action taking place at the Hangout restaurant’s outdoor stage, which will function as the BP Kids Stage during the festival, and at the Xbox Stage, located nearby on the north side of Beach Boulevard, next to the Surf Style shop.
On the Hangout stage, the lineup starts out with an emphasis on rock, funk and roots music Buy Tattoo Machine, with Tauk followed by Delta Rae and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, then shifts to the sounds of New Orleans, with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band Playing at 7:30 p.m. and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band following at 9:30 p.m.
The Xbox Stage features a mix of electronic dance music laced with rock, jam and jazz influences. The Revivalists open Custom Tattoo Machines, followed by Nobody Beats the Drum and Perpetual Groove. The stage’s top acts are Boombox at 7:15 p.m. and Big Gigantic at 9:30 p.m.
Hip-hop artist ZNI will close things out with an 11 p.m. set inside the Hangout.
Matt McDonald of Perpetual Groove said his band will bring some rock energy to the proceedings.
Matt McDonald, keyboardist for Perpetual Groove, said the kickoff is an appealing event to be a part of.
“This is our first time at Hangout. We’re definitely excited to come for it,” he said. “It should be a lot of fun.”
“I’m pretty excited about it,” he said. “Big Gigantic, I’ve been a fan of theirs for a long time. They definitely know how to bring a good party.”
McDonald has another reason to be excited: He recently rejoined Perpetual Groove, retaking a role he held for eight years before stepping out for three and a half. He said the chemistry between band members is phenomenal, and it shows in the songs.
“I think that’s being directly reflected in the music we’re writing right now,” he said.
Perpetual Groove plans to record an album in the summer, probably for fall release, he said. In the meantime they’re playing some of the new material live.
The band is known as a jam band that works in some of the atmospheric elements of electronic music. But members aren’t afraid to go back to the basics, especially at a festival set.
“It’s definitely a rock and roll attitude. The way we attack it is with that sort of energy,” he said. “We’re not afraid to put down a little bit of four-on-the-floor and let people have a dance party.”

DUBAI (Reuters) – Bahrain has arrested a prominent human rights activist and critic of the country’s ruling family, the Interior Ministry and an activist said on Sunday Cheap Chanel Dresses, as the authorities escalated a crackdown on pro-democracy protesters.
Bahrain, which is ruled by a Sunni Muslim monarchy and hosts the U.S. Fifth Fleet, has been in turmoil since activists mainly from the majority Shi’ite community began protests in February 2011 after successful revolts in Egypt and Tunisia.
Police arrested Nabeel Rajab, head of the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights (BCHR), on return from Beirut on Saturday evening, Sayed Yousif Almuhafda, a member of the BCHR told Reuters.
“The police arrested him near the plane’s door. They said they had an arrest warrant from the public prosecutions office … He was allowed to call his family after the arrest yesterday but they could not see him,” Almuhafda said.
He said Rajab appeared on court on Sunday on previous charges of taking part in and calling for an illegal gathering and march. “We don’t know what the new charges are yet,” he said by telephone from Manama.
Rajab shot to prominence last year when he became a loud campaigner against the crackdown. With 140,000 followers on Twitter he is one of the most well-known online activists in the Arab world.
Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior confirmed Rajab’s arrest “for committing a number of crimes punishable by law”. It gave no more details.
Authorities are also holding protest leader Zainab al-Khawaja after she tried to protest alone on a major highway. Prosecutors say she insulted women police officers. She became a symbol for protesters after she was dragged from a traffic roundabout in December by women riot police.
Both Rajab and Khawaja, daughter of jailed uprising leader Abdulhadi al-Khawaja who is on a hunger strike, have been detained briefly on numerous occasions over the past year but this was the first time the authorities held them with apparent intent to press charges.
INCITEMENT
The International Federation for Human Rights Emilio Pucci Dresses sale, in which Rajab is deputy secretary general, condemned the arrest.
“The federation demands the immediate and unconditional release of Rajab and other rights defenders, while it appears that these judicial harassments aim to place blacks against human rights activities,” the Paris-based group said.
Rajab and Khawaja have been a thorn in the government’s side, organizing peaceful protests inside Manama without licenses – in contrast to the leading opposition party Wefaq which obtains Interior Ministry approval.
Their acts of civil disobedience have made them heroes to many Bahraini opposition activists. Western activists, who were eventually deported, joined Rajab for protests in February that marked one year since the protest movement began.
Tension has risen again since April when Bahrain’s Formula One Grand Prix became a lightning rod for protesters and visiting journalists turned their attention to an uprising that has not gone away.
Analysts predicted that hardliners within the ruling family would show their teeth after the Grand Prix, when Bahrain stopped some journalists entering and deported a team from Britain’s Channel Four for entering on tourist visas.
A statement on the state news agency warned clerics against incitement to violence, sectarianism, insulting the judiciary and constitutional institutions and harming the economy – comments apparently directed against leading Shi’ite clerics such as Sheikh Isa Qassim who led a mass protest in March.
“The cabinet instructed ministries to take legal measures if these violations continue, affirming its total rejection of any bargaining over the nation’s security and unity,” BNA said.
King Hamad enacted constitutional reforms last week that would boost the elected parliament’s powers of scrutiny over ministers and budgets. But the government has not budged on the key demand for a single chamber of parliament with full powers to legislate and form governments.

Australia's economy will be “very vulnerable” if it does not act on climate change, says Reserve Bank of Australia board member Jillian Broadbent.
The comment follows the federal government's release on Tuesday of her independent review of its Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) Discount Herve Leger gown, which will offer up to $10 billion to companies in the renewable energy sector struggling to secure capital.
Ms Broadbent says Australia risks being left behind in the global shift toward renewable energy and carbon reductions.
“If we're not ready for it Cheap Herve leger strapless, it's going to be a significant cost to us in the long-term Replica DKNY Clothing,” she told ABC Radio on Wednesday.
“Early action towards the transformation to cleaner energy minimises the ultimate cost and the destruction to the economy.
“No action leaves us very vulnerable.”
Ms Broadbent says she offered to brief treasury spokesman Joe Hockey and opposition finance spokesman Andrew Robb on the review but has not heard back from them.
“They haven't been very interested in speaking to me despite my preparedness to brief them on our findings.”
Opposition climate action spokesman Greg Hunt says the CEFC program will mean taxpayers will be forced to put their money on the line on projects which the private sector won't even invest in.
“The Review acknowledges that it will have to accept a higher risk and lower financial returns on the $10 billion planned for investment in the renewable energy sector,” he said on Tuesday.
“If the government is so confident that Australians will support this use of their money Herve Leger sale, then they should take to it to an election along with the carbon tax.”
The CEFC will offer up to $2 billion every year from 2013, for five years.
Later Cheap Herve Leger gown, Mr Robb rejected as false claims the coalition had not responded to offers of a briefing on the workings of the CEFC.
Mr Robb said an offer for an April 17 briefing was made six days earlier but he was unable to attend and had suggested the briefing take place at “a mutually agreeable time in Sydney”.
Ms Broadbent was yet to respond, Mr Robb's office said.
“For the record, I have read the panel's report and there is nothing in it that changes the coalition's view that this 'Bob Brown Bank' will result in huge sums of borrowed money being wasted Discount DKNY Clothes,” Mr Robb said in a statement.
Mr Hockey is currently out of the country.

Bloggers respond to a fulminating sermon by Barack Obama’s pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and also to a new poll that suggests a majority of Americans think the war in Iraq is going well again.
Wright or wrong: Barack Obama’s pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright—who married the candidate, baptized both of his children, and who serves on his African-American Religious Leadership Committee—was caught on film delivering an inflammatory sermon to his Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. Wright said the United States brought the 9/11 attacks on itself through its own “terrorism.” And “the government gives [blacks] the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing ‘God Bless America.’ No Fake Baume & Mercier Watches for sale, no Fake Hublot Watches, no, God damn America.” And Replica Zenith Watches, in the most attention-grabbing line, that “Hillary Clinton has never been called a nigger.” Obama has likened Wright to a kooky but lovable uncle whose words the family doesn’t heed.

Polimom at the Moderate Voice cuts Obama and Wright some slack but concludes: “I firmly believe that Barack Obama’s feelings and views about race are precisely as he’s presented them — both on the campaign trail and in his books. However, I also think Obama’s going to have to draw very strong, clear distinctions between himself and Jeremiah Wright for the citizens of this country — much more than he’s thus far done.” “[W]e don’t choose our family,” writesRoger L. Simon, “but Obama chose this racist demagogue as his pastor for decades. It’s not funny. Barack is running for President of the United States.” Tom Maguire at JustOneMinute has two questions: “1. When does Barack work his reconciliation magic on his minister? 2. Does Barack actually bring his two young daughters to that church to listen to that stuff?”
John Cole at Balloon Juice wants you to know that he doesn’t care what preachers think: “Why does anyone give a shit what Obama’s minister thinks? Seriously? Why does anyone care what Hagee (McCain’s gay-bashing BFF) thinks? They are religious leaders. Who cares what they think- they are paid to peddle mythology to the masses, so who cares what sort of nonsense they spout?”
Josh Marshall at Talking Points Memo blames Hillary Clinton for the fact that we’re seeing stuff like this because it’s of a piece with the kind of campaign she’s decided to wage. Also, he writes, “I’m not sure there’s much in [Wright's sermon] that doesn’t come out of the sermon tradition of African-American Christianity with a 60s twist. … Particulars aside Replica Aigner Watches, the political relevance is to show Wright as angry black man; and to tie him to Obama.” Jim Geraghty at National Review’sCampaign Spot scuppers the Obama camp’s damage control, which consisted of its rejection of the kind of “personal attacks” Wright was supposedly peddling: “[N]otice the default setting of the Obama campaign, decrying a “personal attack.” But this wasn’t a personal attack. Wright didn’t denounce any individual personally. He denounced the country. It was a national attack, if anything.”
Chris Beam at Slate’s own Trailhead submits one theory as to why the Clinton camp has stayed mum on Wright far: “Wright is right. However inflammatory his rhetoric, his basic case against Hillary—that she doesn’t understand the American black experience in the way Obama does—is irrefutable. ‘Hillary Clinton has never been called a nigger,’ he said in one video. And it’s something Clinton would rather not draw attention to. While his words were disrespectful Sarcar Replica Watches, they weren’t necessarily wrong.”

Iraq going well? A new Pew poll has come out suggesting that 53 percent of Americans think “the U.S. will ultimately succeed in achieving its goals” in Iraq. Other upward trends include Americans who think the war is going “very well” or “fairly well.” The same day Replica Audemars Piguet Watches sale, however, a USA Today/Gallup poll indicates that 60 percent of the population still believes the war to have been a mistake and want a timetable for troop withdrawal.
Abe Greenwald at Commentary’s contentions notes: “Here is [Clinton's or Obama's] unenviable task: to tell the American voter that his or her confidence in America’s ability to win at last is misplaced; to convince them what we need to do instead is pull our troops out and call for a troop surge in Afghanistan. Even more challenging for the Democrats is that time is not on their side. As recently as September 2007, only 42 percent of Americans believed the U.S. would succeed in Iraq. That number jumped 11 points in five months.”
Donklephant asks: “[W]ho benefits the most politically if the situation remains more stablized? Conventional wisdom holds that a less chaotic Iraq would lift the fortunes of John McCain and the Republican party because fewer voters would be demanding American withdrawal. However, greater stability would also give credence to the Democratic position that it’s time to begin our departure.”
